Safety in School Zones
As kids return to school, the City of Regina reminds drivers to take extra care when driving in school zones.
School zones are 30 kilometres per hour between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., seven days a week. School and playground zones are clearly marked with start and end signs.
It’s also important to keep in mind that U-turns are prohibited in all school zones. They are contrary to pedestrian expectations and are particularly dangerous for children who find these movements challenging to predict.
Reducing vehicle speed can significantly improve reaction time for both drivers and pedestrians. Slow down and do your part to keep school children safe as they go to and from school.
