Weekly Intakes Continue for Business Recovery Grant
Includes Retroactive Funding for COVID-19 Expenses
The Regina Economic Recovery Grant (RERG) program begins its seventh week of submissions today, assisting local businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
Through its first phase, launched August 17, 2020, the program provides matching grants of $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 to offset short-term business expenses necessary to operate within public health and safety guidelines or pivot the way they do business. Expenses may include protective equipment, sanitization and cleaning supplies or they may be other expenses incurred to bring staff back to work or adjust operations.
The funding is retroactive and can cover any eligible expenses incurred since March 12, 2020 up until December 31, 2020.
To date, more than 100 applications have been received and 83 grants awarded totalling $155,000.
Applications must be submitted online at Regina.ca/recovery beginning at 9 a.m. every Monday morning. Intake periods are currently held for 24 hours or until 40 applications have been received.
The City will contribute up to $2 million to businesses with the Regina Economic Recovery Grant over two phases. This will be paid through the City’s General Fund Reserve. Phase 2 of the grant program begins in January 2021 and focuses on supporting long-term business initiatives to become more sustainable.
