Yard Waste Depot Improving City’s Waste Diversion
For the second year in a row, Regina residents took advantage of the City’s free Yard Waste Depot dropping off over 4,245 tonnes of yard waste material – that’s a 52 per cent increase from 2019!
“We thank residents for dropping off their leaves, branches and garden waste so that we can turn it into compost rather than filling up our landfill,” said Kim Onrait, Executive Director of Citizen Services. “The significant increase over 2019 shows the collective impact that our community has toward the goal of diverting 65 per cent of residential waste from the landfill.”
If residents have yard waste stored away, they will be able to drop it off when the depot reopens from December 26, 2020 to January 31, 2021 for the City’s Treecycle Program.
