City invites residents to celebrate Wascana Pool with free admission

May 8, 2019

In celebration of the final season of Wascana Pool before its renewal, the City is offering free admission to the pool from 12 to 8 p.m. this year. Wascana Pool will be open from June 13 to September 8, weather permitting.

“Wascana Pool has been an important part of the community for over 50 years and we want to give all residents an opportunity to be part of this season before we start the renewal,” said Diana Hawryluk, Executive Director, City Planning and Development.

Public engagement on the Wascana Pool renewal is planned to start in June. Residents can sign-up for email notifications on ways to provide feedback at Regina.ca/wascanapool.

City Council will consider a report this month which proposes summer programming in the Heritage neighbourhood while Maple Leaf is under construction. In consultation with the community, the City developed plans for child and youth programming, changes to the #15 Heritage bus route and providing families in the neighbourhood with an option for free transit to Wascana Pool.

The City heard from residents’ the value of an outdoor pool in the Heritage Neighbourhood. Plans are underway to rebuild Maple Leaf Pool, with an anticipated opening later in the 2020 season.
