Summer fun ways to beat the heat
The City offers great ways to beat the summer heat from outdoor pools, to spray parks to free summer drop-in programs for kids.
Maple Leaf, Dewdney and Massey outdoor pools open on Thursday, June 14. Wascana outdoor pool will open on Friday, June 22. Admission is free during all operating hours at Maple Leaf Pool and Dewdney Pool, and free from 7 – 8 p.m. at all other outdoor pools.
The City is investing in accessibility upgrades to Regent outdoor pool, which includes an accessible ramp for a graded entrance into the pool. Regent is scheduled to open on Thursday, June 28.
Opening dates for outdoor pools are subject to change pending weather.
There are 15 outdoor spray pads located throughout the city that are easily operated with the push of a button. Outdoor spray pads are open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from now to September 16, weather permitting.
From July 5 to August 10, children and youth of all abilities can take advantage of the free PlayEscapes drop-in program offered at various community centres and recreation facilities throughout the city. PlayEscapes runs from 9:30 – 12 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
The City keeps recreation within reach by providing affordable recreation programs so all residents can participate and thrive in opportunity. The Affordable Fun Program helps residents access our program through reduced rates for recreation.
