Traffic Advisory – Road Restricted - Lewvan Drive – Dewdney Avenue to 4th Avenue
Starting Sunday, November 5 drivers should consider alternate routes as sewer relining work along 7th Avenue will cross Lewvan Drive.
Sewer relining is when a resin-saturated felt tube is inserted into a damaged pipe underground without trenching. Steam is then used to cure the resin and form a tight-fitting and corrosion-resistant replacement pipe. To achieve this, a temporary pipe needs to divert the sewage from the current main until the replacement is ready for use. This temporary pipe will be installed across Lewvan Drive with a small ramp overtop so traffic can drive over it until the work is complete.
This work will be completed in three phases: installation, relining and removal. This work depends on weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Starting Sunday, November 5 at 6 a.m., temporary piping and ramps will be installed. The installation work takes approximately 12 hours and traffic will be restricted to one lane in both directions.
Sunday, November 5 to Thursday, November 9, relining the sewer main will take place. Regular traffic lanes on Lewvan will be open with reduced speed, and 7th Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions.
Starting approximately Friday, November 10, the temporary pipe and ramps will be removed. This work will take about 12 hours and traffic will be restricted to one lane in both directions.
The City of Regina thanks residents for their understanding and patience while this important infrastructure work is being completed. For everyone’s safety, drivers are reminded to slow down in construction zones and to consider alternate routes to avoid construction. Workers and their families are relying on you.
