Traffic Advisory – Road Restricted - Ring Road bridges – over Wascana Creek
Starting Monday, May 13, drivers may want to consider alternate routes as construction begins on the replacement of the north and southbound Ring Road bridges over Wascana Creek between Wascana Parkway and Assiniboine Avenue. This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of October 2019.
• To reduce the impact to residents, two-way traffic will be maintained on Ring Road with a speed reduction to ensure the safety of drivers and workers.
• Work will begin with building new crossovers in the median on both sides of the bridges to divert traffic around the construction.
• The northbound bridge will be replaced first. In addition, repairs to the damaged girders on the Assiniboine Avenue overpass will be completed at the same time. Once that bridge is complete, crews will replace the southbound bridge.
• The Assiniboine Avenue ramps will remain open during the construction.
The City of Regina is investing $7.5 million to replace these bridges as they are in an advanced state of deterioration and it is more economical to replace them than repair them. This project will see new foundations, girders, concrete deck, asphalt surface and safety barriers installed.
The City of Regina thanks residents for their understanding and patience while this important infrastructure work is being completed. Slow down, plan ahead and be safe. Workers and their families are relying on you.
