The Municipal Architectural Heritage Design Guidelines Bylaw

The Architectural Heritage Design Bylaw No. 2007-78 was established to provide guidelines for heritage properties and assist building owners in the restoration or renovation of heritage properties.

Overview:

  • City Council sets guidelines to assist municipal heritage designation applicants and current heritage building owners in the restoration or renovation of municipal heritage properties.
  • Pursuant to The Heritage Property Act, SS 1979-80, Chapter H-2.2, Subsection 11(4), City Council shall consider if it is necessary to preserve and develop the heritage characteristics of designated heritage properties.
  • The guidelines include illustrative sketches with particular emphasis on conservation or reconstruction of heritage materials and traditional designs.
