National Aboriginal Day

ReconcilliationIn recognition of the significant contributions, diversity and heritage of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, the City of Regina is honoured to host its 5th celebration of National Aboriginal Day.

On Wednesday, June 21 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., please join us in Victoria Park for:

  • Grand Entry
  • Opening Prayer – Elder Norma-Jean Byrd
  • Opening Remarks – Mayor Fougere
  • Various representative speakers from Treaty 4, the Office of the Treaty Commissioner, the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan, Regina Police Service, Regina Fire & Protective Services
  • Charging Bear Powwow Dancers
  • Métis Jigger Courtney Anaquod
  • Hip Hop Artist Brad Bellegarde
  • Closing Prayer – Elder Albert Robillard
  • Closing Round Dance

There will also be Indigenous cultural demonstrations and displays including:

  • Office of the Treaty Commissioner
  • Kids Zone, including face painting, rock painting, Cree Syllabics
  • Buffalo hide demonstrations
  • Indigenous craft sales
  • Interactive, hands-on demonstrations with a fire truck, police car, bus and street sweeper
  • Various information booths hosted by Reconciliation Regina, University of Regina Indigenous Advisory Circle, Regina Aboriginal’s Professional Association, Regina Public Libraries, SaskTel, SaskPower, SGI, Farm Credit Canada and FHQ Developments
