First Aid Kit

Keep a first aid kit with your emergency kit. Many of the items in your first aid kit will be required in the event of a pandemic.

First aid kits can be purchased from your local store or you can create your own by storing the suggested items in a metal tin or plastic box:

  • Adhesive bandages (Bandages should be sterile and come in assorted sizes)
  • Adhesive tape
  • Antiseptic
  • Cleansing agent/soap
  • Face masks
  • First aid manual
  • Latex gloves (2 pairs)
  • Moistened towelettes
  • Needle
  • Non-prescription drugs: - antacids - anti-diarrhea medication - fluids with electrolytes - fever/cough medications - laxatives - pain relievers
  • Pencil and paper
  • Petroleum jelly or other lubricant
  • Safety pins (various sizes)
  • Scissors
  • Sterile gauze pads (4 pads in both the 5 cm and 10 cm size)
  • Sterile roller bandages (3 rolls in both the 5 cm and 7.5 cm width)
  • Sunscreen
  • Thermometer
  • Triangular bandages
  • Tongue depressors
  • Tweezers
