Take Actions to Reduce Emissions
The City of Regina was the third municipality in Canada to commit to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by signing onto the Partners for Climate Protection program, created by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) . Design Regina: the Official Community Plan
As part the Design Regina: the Official Community Plan process, a set of Community Priorities was developed. One of these priorities aims to "Promote Conservation, Stewardship, and Environmental Sustainability" and reduce the city’s environmental footprint; prioritize the conservation of land, water, and energy; and embrace new operational measures, such as leading practices for waste management.
The "Environment" section of Design Regina includes policy in the areas of Regina's natural systems, our urban forest, water protection, and resiliency (climate change). You can download Design Regina: the Official Community Plan at designregina.ca.
