Stay Home, Stay Safe During Power Outage
We are monitoring the widespread power outage occurring in many areas of the city today. We encourage residents affected to follow SaskPower for the latest updates and tips, stay close to home and be safe.
For those needing to travel, expect traffic delays, slow down and be courteous while driving. Some traffic signals with battery backup will still be operational. All intersections with traffic signals not in operation should be treated as four-way stops.
There are several transit routes experiencing delays. Please check transitlive.com for arrival times.
City Hall is closed as of 1:30 p.m.
City-operated recreation facilities that have power are open and currently running programs. Call the facility in advance to confirm it is open. But if you want to take a day off, today might be the day.
Service Regina calls may be delayed. At this time, please limit your calls to emergency city service requests such as sewer backup or water main breaks or leaks. If you wish to submit a Service Request pertaining to other programs and city services, please do so online.
While the power is out, we ask you to be mindful of these fire safety tips:
- If you are using candles, do not leave them unattended. Blow out all candles when you are leaving a room.
- Do NOT use alternate heat sources that are fueled by propane, butane or camping fuel in your home or garage. These are for outdoor use only where they can be safely ventilated.
While there are no immediate water or waste water issues, there have been intermittent power outages at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plan. We are asking residents to take steps to conserve water by limiting non-essential use, such as doing laundry. Consider applying ‘cabin’ rules for flushing. These actions will help reduce pressure on our water and wastewater systems.
The Mayor and Councillor’s annual “Light the Lights” holiday celebration has been cancelled tonight.
If are you experiencing an emergency situation, please call 9-1-1.
