Lawn Grass Mix

If you want to have a lawn in Regina, the standard lawn grass mix of 80% Kentucky Bluegrass and 20% Creeping Red Fescue is hardy and grows well. However this grass mix requires frequent watering and is occasionally prone to disease and insect problems. To combat this, add other low-maintenance grass species to your mix, like native grasses such as blue gramma, needle and thread, northern wheatgrass, western wheatgrass, or Canada wild rye. You may also wish to add perennial ryegrass, chewings fescue, or hard fescue.

You will need about to 2.5 kilograms of seed to cover an area of 100 m2.

The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation has additional information about low-maintenance lawns that grow well in our northern climate.
