Preferred growing conditions Prefers moist, well-drained soils with partial shade to full sun. Can withstand some drought.
Form Amur Maples have multiple stems which result in a rounded outline when mature.
Flower/seeds Yellowish-white fragrant flowers turn into a seed pod with 2 ‘wings’.
Leaf Double serrated edged leaves have 3 lobes, with the centre lobe as longest. In the summer, leaves are dark green above, light green beneath. In the fall, the leaves turn bright red.
Bark/wood Older branches have a greyish-brown colour.

Pruning Prune to keep shape and remove damaged limbs. Sterilize pruning saws and shears with methanol (gasline anti-freeze) between cuts and between trees.
Sensitive to 2,4-D herbicides, leaf spot, iron chlorosis if soil is too alkaline or drains poorly.
