Preferred growing conditions Prefers full sun on moist sites and can withstand severe flooding. However, tree will die back during drought periods.
Form Golden Willow broad, round shape is created by slender, drooping branches. Twigs often drop from the tree throughout the season.
Flower/seeds Yellowish green flowers form a catkin up to 5 cm long which create brownish white seeds which are attached to cotton fluff.
Leaf Golden Willow trees have smooth, bright green narrow leaves with silvery undersides that are up to 10 cm long.
Bark/wood During its first year of growth, a branch’s bark is yellow. The bark turns light brown as it ages and will become ridged.
