Green Ash (Patmore)

Characteristics Height and Spread

Green ash trees can grow 10 to 19 metres in height and may have a crown width of 9 to 12 metres.

Preferred growing conditions

Grows best in full sun and tolerates a variety of soils. Can withstand temporary flooding or periods of drought.


Green ash trees grow upwards; form may be upwards, rounded, or narrow.


The Patmore green ash tree is a male tree. It produces greenish-yellow, hairy flowers that produced light-brown, winged seedpods.


Mature leaves are bright green, have a serrated edge, and may be as large as 30 cm.


Older bark may be anywhere from ash-grey to brown with narrow ridges.

Prune to keep shape and remove damaged limbs. Sterilize pruning saws and shears with methanol (gasline anti-freeze) between cuts and between trees.
