Preferred growing conditions Likes moist soils in full sun and is drought tolerant once established.
Form Rocky Mountain Junipers are dense, compact pyramid-shaped coniferous trees with upward reaching branches.
Flower/seeds Red, green or yellowish flowers that turn into ‘berries’.
Leaf Prickly, scaled leaves that are dark or light bluish green.
Bark/wood Bark is usually reddish-brown and in mature trees appears to be shredded.
Berries Round green/blue berries that contain 1 to 3 seeds.
Pruning Prune to keep shape and remove damaged limbs. Sterilize pruning saws and shears with methanol (gasline anti-freeze) between cuts and between trees.
