The City is progressing on the Transportation Master Plan by investing in bike lanes to promote active transportation and healthier communities. Bike lanes help to make cycling more safe, accessible and attractive for users to get around our community. At this location, a new style of bike lane will be installed. This bike lane will use a delineator between the driving and cycling lanes. Changes to the road configuration will take place to allow a complete driving lane to be used for north/south bike travel. This lane will also connect the existing multi-use pathways to the east and the south.
Work will include:
- Concrete work
- New median curbing
- Storm and sewer repairs
- New sidewalks on 17th Avenue East
- Resurfacing 17th Avenue East
- Installing a bike lane from Douglas Avenue to 17th Avenue East
Current Traffic Restrictions
Work will be completed in two phases, starting with the concrete work for phase one and resurfacing of the asphalt road surface for phase two.
- Phase one will begin June 8 in the southbound lanes of Park Street, between Broadway Avenue and Douglas Avenue. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction for six weeks.
The Park Street Rehabilitation and Bike Lane Project is expected to take 12-14 weeks and be completed September 2020.
