Whelan Drive – Devonshire Drive to McCarthy Boulevard
Starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, a Street Infrastructure Renewal project begins along Whelan Drive between Devonshire Drive and McCarthy Boulevard to replace sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, medians, curbs and gutters, resurface the road, as well as rebuild the area around the median at McCarthy Boulevard and Whelan Drive. This project will improve drainage, extend the lifecycle of the infrastructure and create a smoother driving experience.
Work will be completed in two phases starting with the concrete replacement for phase one, followed by removal and paving of the asphalt road surface for phase two. The City will advise residents of phase two restrictions as the work progresses.
Phase one is anticipated to be completed in seven weeks. Drivers may want to consider alternate routes as traffic on Whelan Drive will be closed in one to two block sections at a time. Crews will begin working at Devonshire Drive and progress eastbound to McCarthy Boulevard.
