Light the Lights Downtown to Illuminate Regina on November 19
Residents are invited to kick off the holiday season at Light the Lights Downtown on November 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. This reimagined community celebration will transform downtown Regina into a festive destination, featuring holiday activities, entertainment and lighting ceremonies across multiple locations.
“Light the Lights Downtown is an exciting opportunity to bring our community together and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year,” says Mayor Chad Bachynski. “This event will brighten our downtown, create a memorable evening for families and showcase Regina as a winter city. The City of Regina is proud to partner with Regina Downtown Business Improvement District to create one large festive evening where residents can gather, support local businesses and share in the magic of the holiday season.”
Presented through a partnership between the City of Regina and the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID), Light the Lights Downtown brings both organization’s smaller events into one large Downtown-wide holiday celebration. Event hubs at City Hall, Cornwall Centre, Regina Public Library and Globe Theatre will offer activities, entertainment and holiday experiences.
The evening will feature two lighting ceremonies:
- Downtown Lighting Ceremony at Victoria Park - 6 p.m.
- City Hall Lighting Ceremony - 6:30 p.m.
“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Regina to bring our community together for one unified holiday celebration,” said Judith Veresuk, Executive Director of Regina Downtown Business Improvement District. “While we collaborate with the City throughout the year, lighting up downtown on the exact same evening is an exciting first for us. Bringing these festivities together into a single night creates an even bigger impact for our city core, amplifying the magic of the season and giving residents even more reason to explore, celebrate and support our local businesses.”
Residents can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including visits with Santa Claus and the Grinch, performances by local entertainers, a colouring contest and a Holiday Market with vendors from the Regina Farmers' Market. The popular horse-and-wagon ride will also return.
