The City of Regina has issued an open call inviting applications for partnership to provide enhanced services at the planned new Indoor Aquatic Facility, which is set to open in 2028.

thumbnail_image004The Indoor Aquatic Facility, located on the site of the current Sportplex, 1717 Elphinstone St., will serve as an inclusive, accessible, multi-purpose space where residents can participate in recreation and sport activities, connect with others, and socialize.

The open call invites applications from parties interested in offering complementary business or sport and recreation services that would augment the experiences available at the facility, such as:

  • Physiotherapy, massage or other wellness services.
  • Recreation and sport retail; potentially with a pro-shop element.
  • Childcare (while caregivers are using the facility and/or full-time).
  • Dedicated user group space (i.e. office space, additional storage space, etc.).
  • Cultural space.
  • Complimentary leisure programs and services, including and beyond aquatics.
  • Complimentary sport and recreation programs.
  • Complimentary social and/or community programs including non-profit organizations.
  • Program and service provision (such as sports academies and training).
  • Food and beverage services, such as restaurant and lounge areas, concession areas and sandwich and juice shops.
  • Related retail areas, such as sports equipment and supplies.
  • Hydrotherapy, including the use of the aquatic amenities during non-peak hours.
  • Use of the fitness or studio amenities during non-peak hours.
  • Dedicated space that may be available to the public outside of the organization's operating hours.

Received proposals will be screened for feasibility and to determine factors such as community and financial value and impact, alignment with amenity priorities, benefits to the community, and sustainability.

Interested parties can attend an information session regarding this competition on Sept 18, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Sportplex (1717 Elphinstone Street).
