About Indigenous Relations at the City of Regina
The department of Indigenous Relations at the City of Regina is integrated with all other departments to support City of Regina elected officials and administration to incorporate an Indigenous worldview into all City work, policies, procedures and operations.
Goals of Indigenous Relations
- Directly enhance and promote the strategic priority of a Vibrant Community. Indirectly support all City strategic priorities by including an Indigenous worldview in City operations.
- Residents see more culturally diverse spaces and welcoming activities for everyone.
- All City interactions incorporate equality and equity.

Inter-Governmental Relations and Community Connections
We provide support in fostering strong relationships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit governments and organizations, ensuring open dialogue and mutual understanding.

Advisory Support Across City Departments
Our team advises and supports City departments in incorporating Indigenous worldview into their work, helping ensure culturally informed approaches across all areas of service.
Inclusion of Indigenous Worldview in City Strategy and Policy
We oversee the respectful and culturally appropriate integration of Indigenous perspectives through the review, development, and implementation of City strategies and policies.
Cultural Protocol Guidance
We offer guidance on First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultural protocols to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement in all interactions and initiatives.
Elders Advisory Committee
We lead and support the facilitation of the Elders Advisory Committee, ensuring that Indigenous Elders have an opportunity to advise on City decision-making, projects, and cultural planning.
Indigenous Ceremony Site
We provide leadership and support for the Indigenous Ceremony Site, maintaining it as a sacred and accessible space for ceremony, reflection, and community gathering for all residents.
Community Collaboration and Cultural Activation
We work in partnership with community members to activate Indigenous ceremony, cultural events, and traditional activities – honouring the diverse practices and teachings of Indigenous Peoples.
