City of Regina Building Capacity Above and Below Ground During 2026 Construction Season
The City of Regina continues to invest in infrastructure to support growth and create a more livable city. The City is investing $147 million in roadways and water infrastructure improvements in 2026.
“A city that invests in its infrastructure invests in its own momentum. As we take on the important and necessary projects before us, we’re not just repairing roads and pipes - we’re catching up on a long‑standing infrastructure deficit and building the foundation for the Regina we all want to see,” says Mayor Chad Bachynski. “Construction can be inconvenient, but it’s also a sign of progress, growth and a community moving confidently into its future. I want to thank residents for their patience, understanding and support as this work continues. Together, we’re strengthening the systems that keep our city moving and creating lasting benefits for every resident.”
Seven major construction projects will take place this year, five of which are already underway, including the 11th Avenue Revitalization Project, Albert Street Overpass Upgrade Project, Southwest Sewer Upgrade Project and two additional drainage projects to ensure storm water flows away from homes and into Wascana Creek. Residents can learn more about these projects by clicking the project page links at Regina.ca/ConstructionMap. The other two major construction projects will launch later this season. More details will be shared closer to their start dates.
“The City’s infrastructure is a top priority for our residents and that makes it a top priority for us,” said Kurtis Doney, Deputy City Manager, City Operations. “This construction season we’re making investments into better roads, improved water, wastewater and drainage systems and enhanced streetscapes.”
The City has an online construction map to help residents better understand construction in their neighbourhood. The map provides up-to-date information about planned infrastructure improvements, including the type of project and expected start and end dates. Residents can view this map at Regina.ca/ConstructionMap.
The City is committed to minimizing disruptions for residents, including working extended hours and on weekends, whenever possible. For example, full Ring Road closures to support the Albert Street Overpass Upgrade Project will only happen on weekends to minimize disruptions during the work week.
Residents are reminded to plan ahead, slow down and drive safely.
