Construction to Begin on Fire Station No. 8
The City of Regina officially broke ground on Fire Station No. 8 with a sod-turning ceremony. Construction will officially begin next month, and the station will open in early 2027.
“We are proud to announce the beginning of construction on Fire Station No. 8. This new fire station is a strategic investment for our community, not just for emergency response, but also the valuable public safety work that Regina Fire does in fire prevention and public education,” said Mayor Chad Bachynski.
Fire Station No. 8, located at 5051 E Primrose Green Drive at Chuka Boulevard, will be a modern, fully equipped facility.
“The southeast portion of the city has expanded significantly over the past 25 years,” said Fire Chief Layne Jackson. “This new fire station will improve response times, provide critical community amenities and strengthen safety for residents in the area.”
Beyond its emergency response functions, the new station was designed to serve as a community hub. The building will feature:
- A multi-purpose community space available for public use and local events.
- A Big Blue Bin, improving recycling accessibility for area residents.
- A publicly accessible washroom, designed for convenience and community use.
“The community space and public washroom are needed amenities in this young and growing neighbourhood,” said Diana Burton, Director of Recreation & Cultural Services “We are excited about how the community space will support the surrounding community.”
