Council Appoints Regina Exhibition Association Ltd. Interim Board of Directors
Earlier today, City Council appointed six individuals to the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd. (REAL) Board of Directors, on an interim basis. All newly appointed directors are also employees of the City of Regina. The appointment of City of Regina employees is the most efficient approach to swiftly and responsibly re-establish oversight of REAL at the Board level, following the recent resignation of all REAL Board members.
The newly appointed REAL Board of Directors are:
- Niki Anderson, City Manager
- Ly Pham, Chief of Staff
- Barry Lacey, Executive Director, Financial Strategy and Sustainability
- Jennifer Johnson, Executive Director, Corporate Services
- Jeff May, Manager, Sport Facilities & Special Events
- Maria Burns, Manager, Client Service & Labour Relations
Each of the new interim directors has expertise that is well-aligned with the functions of REAL and that will allow them to provide effective, interim oversight of the corporation. These nominees are also an appropriate fit to lead Administration’s work, as directed by Council, on a report regarding structural changes to the management of assets currently overseen by REAL. The interim directors have been each been appointed to a term ending July 31, 2024.
REAL remains an Independent Municipal Corporation. REAL’s leadership and operations continue to remain separate from City of Regina Administration. Inquiries regarding the first meeting of the newly appointed REAL Board of Directors can be directed to REAL.
The City of Regina would like to extend its thanks and appreciation to all employees of REAL, for their continued commitment to deliver on their mandate -- to build community, one memory at a time.
