New Water Stations Installed
People and their pets will have more ways to cool off this summer thanks to the installation of three new temporary water stations in local Regina parks.
“We love our Regina summers, and these innovative water stations will help residents and visitors beat the heat while they enjoy our beautiful parks,” Mayor Sandra Masters said.
The water stations have some unique features that make them both practical and accessible:
- To help utilize existing city resources, the potable drinking water for the stations is supplied by nearby fire hydrants;
- Two self-closing faucets are set at different heights to help ensure that everyone can easily access water while also preventing unnecessary waste; and
- Ground-level catch basins, or “doggy bowls”, can be filled to ensure our furry friends are hydrated during hot weather.
“A lot of thought and creativity went into the design and fabrication of these water stations. I want to thank our City of Regina design team and our local businesses for helping make this project a reality,” added Masters.
The temporary fountains will be available from June until October each year.
