City Announces new 2026 Accessible Playground Grant Program
The City of Regina has launched a new Accessible Playground Grant Program and is now accepting applications from non-profit organizations to build or upgrade playgrounds that are accessible and open for public use.
“Accessible playgrounds create spaces where users of all abilities can take part in safe, barrier-free play,” said Diana Burton, Director of Recreation & Cultural Services. “This new grant program reflects the City’s commitment to improving accessibility by supporting community partners in creating inclusive outdoor spaces in the city.”
The Accessible Playground Grant Program provides funding to help replace aging playgrounds or install new ones that meet the City’s Accessibility Playground Design Standards. Organizations may apply for up to 30 per cent of a project’s total budget, to a maximum of $80,000. The City of Regina has allocated $160,000 to the program for 2026. Successful applicants must complete construction and open the playground to the public by June 1, 2028. Applications will be accepted until April 9, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Eligible applicants must be registered non-profit organizations incorporated for at least one year and in good standing with the City of Regina. Organizations must also demonstrate sound financial management and confirm that at least 40 per cent of total project funding is in place at the time of application. Projects must be located in Regina and must meet the City’s Accessible Playground Design Standard.
To support applicants, the City will host a virtual information session for non-profit organizations on March 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. City staff will review eligibility requirements, funding limits, design standards and the application process, and will answer questions from prospective applicants. Details about the session are available at Regina.ca/Grants.
Application forms and full program guidelines are available online. Organizations must submit completed applications electronically by the deadline.
