City Rinks Open for Free Public Skating
The City of Regina’s indoor rinks are now open for free public skating sessions, giving residents the chance to enjoy skating, hockey and other winter activities.
“This winter season, all public skates are free. We welcome skaters and soon-to-be skaters to our indoor rinks,” said Diana Burton, Director of Recreation & Cultural Services. “Based on resident feedback, the City has expanded low-sensory skate sessions and introduced stick and puck sessions.”
Stick and puck sessions allow participants to practice hockey and ringette skills in a non-competitive environment, without formal instruction, scrimmages or slapshots. Low-sensory skates have reduced lighting, no music and a lower attendance capacity.
Residents are encouraged to check schedules before visiting. Indoor arenas are open for public skating from October through March. Outdoor rinks and shinny sites are available for skating and hockey during the winter months depending on weather conditions. Residents can check at Regina.ca/Rinks to find rink locations, hours and schedules.
