City of Regina Seeking Accessibility Plan Feedback
The City of Regina is asking for public feedback on its Accessibility Plan implementation through a survey available on Regina.ca/AccessibilityPlan until March 2, 2026.
“The City of Regina is committed to ongoing community engagement throughout the implementation of this plan,” said Ashley Nemeth, City of Regina Accessibility Advisor. “It is especially important that we hear from individuals with disabilities, older adults and their support networks to ensure that we are removing barriers for those most impacted.”
The public survey will help determine what has been successful and where improvements could be made. Results will inform a report to City Council in May 2026.
Approved in 2024, the Accessibility Plan is intended to identify, prevent and address barriers to access in City spaces, programs and services. It contains more than 80 actions to be completed by 2034 related to engagement, built environment, transportation, employment, communication, programs and services and procurement.
As of February 2026, the City has completed 33 actions and 41 are in progress. Of the short-term actions completed by the end of 2025, 46 per cent are complete and 47 per cent are currently in progress. With the budget approved for 2026, nearly all short-term actions are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Some highlights of the actions that have been completed so far are: disability awareness training for staff, more collaboration between staff on accessibility priorities including sidewalks, more meaningful engagement with people with lived experience, accessibility upgrades to public City facilities and more frequent transit service.
