Transit Fares Increasing
Effective Wednesday, April 8, Transit fares in Regina will increase. As an example, fares for single rides paid electronically (paid with debit cards, credit cards or with the Umo app or card) will increase from $2.90 to $3.20. This applies to all fixed route and Paratransit riders.
“There are a variety of fare types and ways to pay to get around Regina,” said Deputy City Manager of City Operations Kurtis Doney. “We’re reminding all transit riders to check Regina.ca/Transit to find your fare.”
Regina transit fares, which were last increased in 2017, remain aligned or lower than those of comparable Canadian cities. The increase differs slightly for each type of fare and is expected to generate approximately $585,000 annually, which helps offset transit expenses.
Regina Transit offers multiple affordability programs for transit riders and non-profit organizations, including the Fare Assistance Program, the Affordability Pass and the Discounted 31-Day Pass. Visit the Fares and Passes section of Regina.ca/Transit for information on these programs, including eligibility and application processes.
The passing of The Transit Fare Amendment Bylaw, 2026 also removes paper transfers and brings in a $5 fee for new Umo cards. Only transit riders paying cash, approximately 3 per cent of transit riders, will be affected by the removal of paper transfers. Riders paying electronically, via the Umo app or card, with debit, credit or an electronic wallet, will automatically have a transfer applied.
The increase in transit fares was approved in the 2026-2027 Budget process.
