Albert Street North Overpass Construction is Complete
Construction is complete on the Albert Street North overpasses. Full access to Albert Street and all ramps will resume as of October 9, 2026 at 8 p.m. This $17.4 million project was completed over two construction seasons. The southbound overpass was completed in 2025 and the northbound structure was finished in October of this year.
“The Albert Street North overpass project delivers important improvements to one of Regina’s key transportation corridors,” said Kurtis Doney, Deputy City Manager, City Operations. “By increasing clearance height, rehabilitating the structures and upgrading safety features, we are extending the life of these overpasses while reducing the risk of costly collisions and disruptions for motorists.”
The City upgraded this key transportation route, which connects traffic from the Ring Road to Highways 6 and 11 on the north side of Regina, to ensure safety and driveability. The upgrades include reconstructing the top side of the overpass, refurbishing the existing foundation and increasing the clearance height of the overpass by 0.6 metres (approximately two feet).
Raising both overpasses reduces the risk of damage from over-height vehicles. The overpasses also feature upgraded barriers and guardrails that meet modern safety standards.
