City Seeking Feedback on Construction Practices and Project Delivery
The City of Regina is reviewing its construction practices, project delivery and procurement processes and is inviting residents, businesses, contractors and industry partners to share their thoughts. The review will help identify opportunities to improve construction planning, coordination and delivery.
The review follows the Mayor's motion for Continuous Improvement in Construction Practices (MN26-2), brought forward in March and will help identify opportunities to improve how construction projects are planned, coordinated and delivered.
"Construction is essential to maintaining and improving the infrastructure our community relies on every day," said Mayor Chad Bachynski. "We know construction can also create challenges for residents, businesses and commuters. This engagement is an opportunity to hear directly from those affected and from the industry professionals delivering the work so we can continue improving how projects are completed in Regina."
The City is seeking feedback on topics that include:
- Construction planning and coordination
- Traffic impacts and access during construction
- Communication and public notification practices
- Procurement and tendering processes
- Opportunities to improve project efficiency
- Potential trade-offs between project costs, timelines and community impacts
- Alternative project delivery methods and construction schedules
The engagement will include surveys for residents, businesses and construction industry participants as well as meetings with impacted parties, associations and educational institutions, in addition to in-person public opportunities.
"We've made improvements to construction planning and delivery over time, but continuous improvement requires listening and learning," said Kurtis Doney, Deputy City Manager, City Operations. "The feedback gathered through this process will help identify what is working well, where challenges exist and what opportunities may be available moving forward."
Residents can participate by completing the online survey at Regina.ca/ConstructionFeedback. The survey will remain open until November 4, 2026.
Feedback and findings will be presented to City Council in early 2027.
