City of Regina Builds Stronger Infrastructure with the 2025 Construction Season
Regina continues to grow and attract more residents. To support this growth, create a more livable city and keep Regina moving, the City is investing $244 million in roadways and infrastructure improvements in 2025.
"As we kick off the 2025 construction season, we’re making smart adjustments to better serve our community,” says Mayor Bachynski. “Expanded work hours will be seen on key projects, which will maximize daylight and minimize disruptions in the long-term for drivers - keeping our city moving while making much-needed improvements. We thank residents for their patience and support as we build a stronger, more efficient Regina together.”
Two priorities for residents, the Residential Road Renewal Program and the Lead Service Connection Management Program will continue. For 2025, the Residential Road Renewal Program is estimated to improve approximately 21 kms of residential roads, while the Lead Service Connection Management Program will remove about 220 city-owned lead connections from our records.
Seven major construction projects will be taking place this year, five of which are already underway. These include the Dewdney Avenue Corridor Revitalization Project, the 11th Avenue Revitalization Project, The Albert Street Overpass Upgrade Project, the Park Street Upgrade Project and the Water Network Expansion Project. Residents can learn more about these projects by clicking the project page links at Regina.ca/construction. The other two major construction projects will be launching later this construction season and more details about these majors will be shared closer to their start dates. More information about these major projects can be found on the accompanying backgrounder.
“The City’s infrastructure is a top priority for our residents and that makes it a top priority for us,” said Kurtis Doney, Deputy City Manager, City Operations, “This construction season we’re making investments into better roads, improved water and wastewater systems, and enhanced parks and streetscapes.”
As part of the 2025 construction season, the City has launched a construction map to help residents better understand construction happening in their neighbourhood. This map will provide up-to-date information about planned infrastructure improvements, including the type of project and expected construction start and end dates. Residents can view this map right now at Regina.ca/constructionmap.
Residents are also reminded to plan ahead, slow down and drive safely.
The City is committed to minimize disruptions for residents, including performing nighttime and weekend work whenever possible. For example, full Ring Road closures to support the Albert Street Overpass Upgrade Project will only happen on weekends to help minimize disruptions during the work week.
