FROST Regina Welcomes Residents and Visitors
FROST Regina activities have begun across the city. The city-wide winter festival celebrates all the ways that residents and visitors can enjoy the season.
“Thanks to our great FROST team, no matter the weather, there will be activities happening throughout the city,” said Jennifer Johnson, Deputy City Manager, Communications, Service Regina & Tourism.
In Regina, the forecast can change in an instant. Residents and visitors are encouraged to check FROSTRegina.com throughout the festival to confirm that events are running.
“Wascana Centre is pleased to take part in FROST Regina for the fifth year in a row,” Provincial Capital Commission Executive Director Jenna Schroeder said. “We encourage everyone to come and enjoy the beauty of winter.”
In addition to favourites like dog sledding and Indigenous games, brunch at the Conexus Arts Centre is a new offering this year in Wascana Centre. Tickets are available now at FROSTRegina.com.
“We are happy to be a part of FROST Regina this year and look forward to hosting patrons for our FROST Brunches on February 8 and 15,” said Shari Tourscher, Director of Client Services, Conexus Arts Centre.
The indoor exhibition, Joylab, will be Downtown in the Cornwall Centre. Presented by the Saskatchewan Science Centre and Cornwall Centre, the space will spark joy for attendees by tapping into bubbles, light and colour, creating photo-worthy moments.
“By working with local artists, cultural partners and small businesses, we’re creating welcoming, creative experiences that invite residents and visitors to rediscover downtown all season long,” said Judith Veresuk, Executive Director, Regina Downtown Business Improvement District.
This year, the festival takes place over three weekends to capture as much fun and good weather as possible. The festival is expanding to include indoor and outdoor FROST Regina activities to give residents and visitors the opportunity to stay warm or embrace the cold.
“The Globe is excited to play host to Regina’s winter enthusiasts. Our doors are open 1 to 5 p.m. on the weekends for folks to warm up and get into a FROST or Frozen mood!” said Heather Ervin, Director of Engagement, Globe Theatre. Disney’s Frozen is on stage at Globe Theatre as a part of the festival this year.
There is something for everyone at FROST Regina, from arts and education to sports and shopping. This variety is credit to the wide range of organizations, staff and volunteers who make this event a success.
“This event is made possible by the commitment, energy and pride of our volunteers, supported by dedicated staff. Their efforts create a welcoming and memorable experience for our community," said Trent Fraser, Acting President and CEO, Regina Exhibition Association, Limited.
For festival goers looking to enjoy FROST Regina into the evenings, the Warehouse District is hosting the FROST Circuit – a tour of breweries in the city and Casino Regina. Residents and visitors of the legal drinking age will be able to take advantage of free shuttle service between locations of the FROST Circuit.
“FROST Regina is a great example of how the city shows up in the winter, and the FROST Circuit is a big part of that. It is a fun, easy way to support local businesses,” said Lance Donison, Executive Director, Warehouse District.
