Regina City Council Welcomes Winter with Annual Light the Lights Celebration
Regina City Council is inviting residents to bundle up and join the annual Light the Lights celebration in front of City Hall on Tuesday, December 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. This free, family-friendly event marks the official start of the holiday season and showcases Regina as a true Winter City.
City Council will lead the countdown to illuminate City Hall and the Queen Elizabeth II Courtyard, creating a festive backdrop for an evening of winter fun. Guests can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, interactive ice creations, outdoor games and activities, local entertainment and complimentary hot chocolate. Santa will also make a special appearance, adding to the holiday magic.
Children aged 12 and under are invited to participate in the City’s virtual colouring contest, designed to celebrate the spirit of the season. The colouring sheet, created by Regina-based Métis artist Phyllis Poitras-Jarrett of Métis Spirit Art, can be downloaded online. Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, December 9, with participants entered into a prize draw.
To accommodate the event activities, streets adjacent to City Hall will be limited to one lane with limited/restricted parking from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.:
