Upgrading Park Street
On May 1, work will start on a one-year construction project to support Regina’s growing economy and help keep the City moving by upgrading Park Street between Ross and Dewdney Avenue, a road that is in poor condition and requires renewal.
There will be intermittent lane restrictions and road closures along Park Street to ensure the safety of drivers and workers in the construction zone. The first phase of construction is about three weeks long and it includes a lane restriction on Park Street between Dewdney and 7th Avenue. While two-way traffic is still available, there will be no access to 8th Avenue from Park Street during this restriction. Starting the week of May 19, construction moves to the next phase, which is a complete road closure on Park Street between 4th and Ross Avenue. The eastbound lanes on Ross Avenue at this intersection will also be closed during this construction phase.
Weekend work will be completed on a case-to-case basis when it helps minimize disruptions to local businesses and residents. Residents are reminded to watch for signs, use caution and check Regina.ca/roads for up-to-date traffic restrictions.
The Park Street Upgrade is a major project that renews an important trucking route and adds new sidewalks on both sides of the railway to help connect nearby residents to local businesses and transit stops. These new sidewalks will be built on the east side of Park Street between 7th and 4th Avenue and on the west side from 4th to Ross Avenue.
