Voluntary Water Conservation Measures in Effect for Regina
The City of Regina continues to implement temporary measures to conserve water and is asking
residents and businesses to do the same.
Due to a mechanical failure that occurred at Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant on
September 2, 2025, the City of Regina’s water supply remains limited. Plant operations are
gradually returning to normal levels. The restrictions are expected to be lifted over the coming
days.
To help conserve water during this period, residents and businesses are encouraged to:
- Refrain from watering lawns.
- Avoid washing vehicles except when required for health and safety.
- Reduce shower time.
- Only run the washing machine and dishwasher when they are full.
The City is doing its part by not watering parks with City water, not washing vehicles except
when required for health and safety and not performing street sweeping or watermain flushing.
To maintain service levels as much as possible, the City is utilizing its emergency water wells.
The wells provide safe drinking water; however, residents may notice some discoloration.
The City appreciates the cooperation of residents and businesses in adhering to these
temporary water conservation measures and will provide updates as more information becomes
available.
