FAQs

Snow Route Program With no vehicles in the parking lane, a more thorough snow plow from curb to curb can be achieved. This improves traffic flow along the road and helps make winter operations more efficient. Snow routes in Regina cover 16 kilometres of our road network. The selected routes are typically difficult for equipment to plow efficiently, largely due to on-street parking: Winnipeg St - Ross Ave to Broadway Ave Victoria Ave - Pasqua St to Albert St Victoria Ave - Broad St to Winnipeg St Toronto St - Victoria Ave to College Ave College Ave - Winnipeg St to Arcola Ave Broadway Ave - Broad St to Park St 15th Ave - Elphinstone St to Winnipeg St 14th Ave - Toronto St to Winnipeg St 14th Ave - Albert St to Halifax St 13th Ave - Broad St to Toronto St Snow route locations are easily identified by blue signs with a white snowflake. View Map PDF Snow Route Map Snow routes in Regina cover 16 kilometres of our road network. View Map PDF Declaring a Snow Route Snow Routes are Declared: When snowfall has reached a minimum of 5 cm of snow By 3 p.m. the day before parking bans are in effect Any day of the week When a snow route is declared, it means there is no parking for a 24-hour period. Vehicles that remain on the snow route during the temporary parking ban will be ticketed $120. Residents and businesses are free to return the following morning if there has been no notification before 3 p.m. the day before, no matter what the weather brings. For example, when a snow route is declared at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, that means there is no parking on the route starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday. Residents are advised through the Sweep&Plow app, email, phone, on our Facebook and Twitter pages and on the website. If you have a parking permit through the Saskatchewan Abilities Council's Parking Program for People with Disabilities, please contact us at 306-777-7000 to determine if we can work together to find an alternative. Through our Winter Maintenance Policy, we complete activities such as snow plowing, snow routes, ice control and manage the Snow Storage Site. ...

Rapid Housing Initiative – North Central Family Centre

y Information sharing with the public and consultation where appropriate (i.e., rezoning or discretionary use applications) On-going monitoring and reporting to CMHC over the 20-year agreement timeline What is the housing need in Regina? Based on 2021 census data, 23% of renter households in Regina are in core housing need. A household is considered to be in core housing need if it falls below one or more of the adequacy, suitability or affordability standards and would have to spend 30% or more of its before-tax income to access housing that meets all three standards.

Facility Inspections

olume cooking operations, such as 24-hour cooking, charbroiling or wok cooking Quarterly Systems serving moderate-volume cooking operations Semi-annually Systems serving low-volume cooking operations, such as churches, day camps, seasonal business, or senior centresAnnually striped Schedule for Inspection of Grease Build Up (NFPA 96) Cleaning of Exhaust Systems Exhaust systems are required to be cleaned when an inspection reveals the exhaust system is contaminated with deposits from grease-laden vapours. The cleaning of the system is to be performed by a properly trained, qualified and certified company or person(s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. The primary focus of an inspection for cleanliness is to establish whether the volume of grease buildup within the exhaust system warrants cleaning and to determine whether adequate access is available throughout the exhaust system to remove it. Hoods, grease removal devices, fans, ducts and other appurtenances should be cleaned to remove combustible contaminants to a minimum of 50 microns (0.002 in.) Licensed Inspections To license a new alternative family care home or daycare, you must complete a fire inspection. Alternative Family Care Home If you are opening a new alternative family care home that requires a fire inspection for licensing, you must first obtain a building permit from the City of Regina Building Department. Once the Building Department has granted occupancy, schedule a fire inspection by calling 306-777-7830. If you require an inspection for licensing purposes, you can request an inspection by sending an email to FAST@regina.ca with your name, contact information and address of location to be inspected. This request will be forwarded to the district Fire Inspector and they will contact you to schedule a time. An existing alternative family care home (excluding daycares) may require a sprinkler system due to the recent code changes. This depends on the number of occupants and whether they are capable of self-preservation. Consult a design professional (Architect, Engineer, Class 3 Building Official). All residential licensed facilities that do not have a sprinkler system must meet the following minimum standards for sleeping room windows. These standards are minimum standards, prescribed by the National Building Code. Each building owner and licensed facility operator should conduct their own assessment, consulting a design professional if appropriate, to determine whether windows that exceed the minimum standards should be installed to ensure occupants can safely exit the facility in case of emergency Sleeping room windows must meet .35m2 (3.7 ft2) in area with no dimension less than 380 mm (15”). The following are examples of acceptable sleeping room window unobstructed openings. This minimum opening is to be measured when the window is fully opened. There can be no obstructions in this opening. As a result, if the window has a “scissor” style opening mechanism or other hinge system that obstructs the opening does not meet the minimum standard. New window wells are required to have a minimum clearance of 760 mm (30”) from window to edge of window well. Below grade windows installed in sleeping rooms should be designed to swing into the room. If they swing into the window well, the 760 mm (30”) clearance required is from the edge of the opened window. If your window was installed prior to 2013 and your window well has clearance of 610 mm (24”) from window to edge of window well, you are not required by the NBC to meet the 760 mm (30”) requirement. If your existing window well was installed prior to 2013 and does it does not meet 610 mm (24”) minimum clearance requirement, it will need to be brought up to the current code minimum standard of 760 mm (30”) requirement from window to edge of window well. These standards are minimum standards. It is up to each owner to determine whether larger window wells are required to ensure occupants can safely exit through the window in the event of an emergency. Smoke alarms, emergency lighting, portable fire extinguishers and fire drills should be tested and/or practiced monthly and recorded on a log for review at your next fire inspection. Failure to conduct these tests and keep proper records could result in prosecution and possible fine. Daycares If you are opening a daycare that will be licensed for more than 12, you must first obtain a building permit from the City of Regina Building Department. Once the Building Department has granted occupancy, schedule a fire inspection by calling 306-777-7830. Smoke alarms, emergency lighting, portable fire extinguishers and fire drills should be tested and/or practiced monthly and recorded on a log for review at your next fire inspection. Failure to conduct these tests and keep proper records could result in prosecution and possible fines. ...
