This is a one-year construction project to support Regina’s growing economy and help keep the City moving by upgrading Park Street between Ross and Dewdney Avenue, a road that is in poor condition and requires a renewal. This project both renews the road of an important trucking route, while also helping connect nearby residents to local businesses and transit by adding sidewalks on both sides of the railway. These new sidewalks will be built on the east side of Park Street between 7th and 4th Avenue and on the west side from 4th to Ross Avenue.
Starting May 1, there will be:
- a lane restriction on Park Street between Dewdney Avenue and 7th Avenue.
- While two-way traffic is still available, there will be no access to 8th Avenue from Park Street during this restriction.
Starting the week of May 19, construction moves to the next phase, which includes:
- A complete road closure on Park Street between 4th Avenue and Ross Avenue.
- The eastbound lanes on Ross Avenue at this intersection will also be closed during this construction phase.
Project Outcomes
- Rehabilitating the road on Park Street to support Regina’s transportation network and economy for decades to come.
- Add new sidewalks on Park Street to connect residents and transit users to local businesses.
Traffic Restrictions
There will be multiple phases with different restrictions and road closures along Park Street to ensure the safety of drivers and workers in the construction zone. Weekend work will be completed on a case-by-case basis when it helps minimize disruptions to local businesses and residents.
The first construction phase is about three weeks long, including a lane restriction on Park Street between Dewdney and 7th Avenue. While two-way traffic is still available, there will be no access to 8th Avenue from Park Street during this restriction.
Starting the week of May 19, construction moves to the next phase, which is a complete road closure on Park Street between 4th and Ross Avenue. The eastbound lanes on Ross Avenue at this intersection will also be closed during this construction phase.
