Water

To meet the needs of Regina residents, we have an extensive water distribution system, which flows through more than 2,000 kilometres of pipe.

Information.
Chlorine levels were recently increased at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant and in Regina’s water system. As a result, residents may notice changes in the taste and smell of water, however the water remains safe to drink.

The City's water distribution system is made up of five reservoirs, three pumping stations, over 900 kilometres of water mains and thousands of water meters that all work together to deliver safe, reliable drinking water to your home. We test our water on a continuous basis to ensure it meets or exceeds health and quality standards.

Did you know, the average person uses .165 cubic metres of water each day, or about 5 cubic metres of water per month?

1 cubic metre equals:

  • 35 cubic feet
  • 220 gallons
  • 1,000 litres
  • 500 two litre milk cartons
  • 8 ten minute showers
  • 7 baths
  • 77 toilet flushes
