What’s on this page?

    Free Children’s Summer Program

Free Children’s Summer Program or PlayEscapes is an inclusive summer program for ages 5 to 12, which offers leader-facilitated play opportunities to help develop and foster life skills, creativity, imagination, and positive self-image while promoting a physically active lifestyle. Self-directed play is also encouraged to explore and discover with the safety of supervision.

For summer 2022, program will run July 5 to August 12, Monday to Friday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Program will be offered in one-week session blocks; participants will be eligible to sign up for two of the one-week blocks and be placed on a waitlist for more.

Lunches will be available at select locations and will be provided by Regina Education and Action on Child Hunger (REACH) and Chili for Children.

Free Children’s Summer Program is for all children entering Kindergarten (must be 5 years old by December 31, 2022) through Grade 7. We welcome children and youth of all abilities. Due to the number of participants, we ask that the individuals requiring one-on-one support/assistance please bring a support person/attendant.

    Registration

Growing Young Movers (GYM) Youth Development Inc. partnered with the City of Regina to offer GYM, a free, after-school wellness program, available to youth in grades 2 to 8. Program runs from September to June, excluding school holidays, at three locations in the city:

    • mâmawêyatitân centre
    • Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre
    • Glencairn Neighbourhood Centre

GYM after-school programs offer a multi-sport approach that lets participants engage in a variety of movement experiences each week while learning a variety of games and skills.  Participants benefit from working with GYM staff, which include high school mentors that have gone through the GYM afterschool program themselves. This approach to mentoring allows elementary-age youth to come alongside older youth in a positive way.  GYM programming prides itself on providing engaging, inclusive programming that ensures all participants feel part of a team!
