Collection of Overdue Utility Accounts
Utility bills are due upon receipt. When utility bills are not paid on time, the account becomes overdue.
A Customer is notified of overdue accounts on:
- Future utility bills;
- Delinquency notices; and
- Disconnection notices.
All customers who do not pay their account balances on time are subject to collection activity.
Provincial legislation allows all municipalities to enforce payment. The City of Regina may take the following actions to collect overdue utility accounts:
- Disconnection of service
- Transferring outstanding balances to property taxes
- Placing the account with an external collection agency
