This is a construction project in response to the failure of a large storm drain in 2023 that caused a sinkhole in the yard of a private residence. This required the installation of a temporary stormwater management system in Wascana Center consisting of a large sump pit and several large pumps. A new storm drain will be installed that will take storm water from existing infrastructure on College Avenue south along Hamilton Street to Wascana Lake. Landscaping will be reinstated and improved with a new storm water outfall and several new shrubs will be planted.

Current Restrictions:
- May 19 to 20 - Wascana Drive will be closed between Wascana Outdoor Pool and the Willow Island parking lot while crews mobilize a worksite.

Project Outcomes
- Reinstate permanent storm drain infrastructure
- Install a new, storm water outfall
- Reinstate landscaping including several new shrubs
- Pave a section of Hamilton Street south of College Avenue
Timeline
- Substantial completion of the project will occur in the 2026 construction season
- Some landscaping may be completed in Spring 2027
