Councillor Bob Hawkins is sitting for his second term as a member of Regina City Council, representing the residents of Ward 2.
Currently teaching law at the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, he served as the fifth President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina in 2005-2006.
His areas of teaching and research interest include constitutional and administrative law, negotiation and conflict resolution, and trade law. He publishes frequently in academic journals including the Canadian Bar Review.
Councillor Hawkins is a member of the Law Societies of Saskatchewan and of Upper Canada (Ontario). He holds degrees in law, history and economics from the Universities of Manitoba, Toronto, Oxford, Yale and Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He holds an Honorary Doctorate from St. John’s College, University of Manitoba and has been honoured with several university teaching awards.
Councillor Hawkins is active in community volunteer work. He recently served as Chair of the Board of the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital Foundation. He currently chairs the Lakeview Community Association and is the past Rector’s Warden of St. Mary’s Anglican Church.
Councillor Hawkins is married to Marie-France Menc, a practicing lawyer in Regina. They have three sons, Nicolas and Pierre, who are also lawyers, and François, who is studying law at McGill.
